Take a tip on the POS

If a customer wants to leave a tip, you can add it on the POS or let the terminal ask for it.

Add a tip on the POS

1. On the payment screen, choose Tip.
2. Type an amount or pick a percentage.
3. The tip is added to the total before you take payment.

Tip on the card terminal

Many card terminals can ask the customer for a tip on their own screen. The customer chooses the amount there, and it's added to the payment.

Good to know: Tips show in your reports, separate from sales, so you have oversight for distribution and payroll. See "Tracking refunds, discounts and tips".

Tip: Decide a fixed routine for how tips are shared, and write it down. It makes cash-up and payroll easier and fairer.
