Control visibility for an entire category
Use a category override to decide whether every product in a category appears on POS, kiosk, and online.
Use Category visibility override when a whole group of products should be available in the same sales channels. This is useful for categories that should only appear on POS, kiosk, or online.
Steps
- Go to Products → Product categories.
- Click Add Category, or open an existing category for editing.
- Fill in Category Name, Description, and the other standard category fields.
- Find Category visibility override and click Enable override.
- Under Category channel availability, choose where the category should appear. Keep Available everywhere (default) on if everything should appear everywhere.
- To limit the category, untick the default option and choose combinations of POS, Kiosk, and Online with Dine-in and Takeaway.
- Click Create Category or Update Category to save.
- In the Product Category List, categories that control visibility this way show the Visibility override badge.
Good to know: When the override is active, the category controls visibility for every product in the category. Product-level availability is still saved, but ignored until you click Clear override on the category.
Tip: Use a category override for clear groups, such as an alcohol category that should not appear on kiosks, or an online-only catering category. Use the product's own Channel Availability when only individual items should differ.
