Marking a product out of stock

When you run out of something but do not want to delete it, mark the product as out of stock. The product stays in your catalogue, but it cannot be sold until you bring it back or the time you chose has passed.

Steps

1. Go to Products → Products and open the product.
2. On the Generally tab, tick Out of Stock.
3. Optional: Set a date and time under Back in Stock (optional). When that time has passed, the product becomes available again automatically.
4. Click Update Product to save.

In the product list, the item shows the Out of stock label while it is stopped.

Bring it back right away

1. Open the product again.
2. Untick Out of Stock.
3. Click Update Product.

Good to know: Out of Stock is a quick manual switch and is separate from Stock Tracking. If you use Stock Tracking with Stock Quantity, the product is automatically shown as out of stock once the count reaches zero.

Tip: Leave Back in Stock (optional) empty if you do not want the product to return automatically at a specific time.
