Using Open Price for manual or weighed items

Some items don't have a fixed price - they're weighed or priced differently each time. For these, use Open Price, so the price is entered when the item is sold.

Steps

1. Open the product under Products, or create a new one with Add Product.
2. Fill in the Product Name and choose a Category.
3. Find the Open Price toggle and switch it on.
4. Set the price to 0 - the actual amount is entered at the point of sale when ordering.
5. Choose the correct MVA/VAT Code so tax is right even when the price varies.
6. Click Save.
7. At the point of sale, staff select the item and type in the amount before it's added to the order.

Tip: Open Price suits weighed items (pick-and-mix sweets, fruit, baked goods by weight) and special items without a set price. Give it a clear name like "Pick & mix by weight" so staff know to enter a price. You can turn Open Price off again at any time and set a fixed price instead.
