Ask for quantity when an item is sold

Use Ask for quantity at sale when an item is often sold in several units at once, or when the quantity must be chosen before the item is added to the cart.

Steps

1. Go to Products and open the item you want to change, or create a new item.
2. Fill in the usual product fields such as Product Name, Category, price, and MVA/VAT Code.
3. Find the Ask for quantity at sale toggle.
4. Read the helper text Show a quantity popup before this product is added to the cart.
5. Turn Ask for quantity at sale on and click Save.
6. On the POS, staff see Enter quantity for [product name] when they tap the item.
7. In online ordering, the customer sees Choose quantity for [product name], enters a quantity, and taps Add to cart.
8. Check the cart afterwards. The quantity appears on the order line, and if the item has a unit, the unit is shown with the number.

Tip: This works well for products sold by count or amount while keeping a fixed unit price. If the price must also be typed in at sale, use Open Price as well or instead, depending on your routine.
