Sell and redeem gift cards on the POS

Gift cards work two ways on the POS: you sell them as an item, and redeem them as payment.

Sell a gift card

1. Add gift card to the cart (as a normal item or via a dedicated gift-card button).
2. Set the amount if the card has an open value.
3. Take payment as usual. The card is activated with the balance.

Redeem a gift card

1. Ring up the customer's items and tap Pay.
2. Choose Gift card as the payment method.
3. Scan or type the gift-card number. The balance is deducted.
4. If the balance is too low, pay the rest with another method.

Good to know: Balance and validity are managed in the back office. See "Issuing and managing gift cards".

Tip: If the customer has money left on the card after a purchase, the card keeps the remaining balance for next time.
