Routing a category to a kitchen printer

Send orders for a whole category, like Pizzas, straight to the right kitchen printer.

If you run a kitchen, you can assign a category to a kitchen printer so every product in it automatically prints at the right station, for example all pizzas going to the pizza oven printer.

Steps

  1. Open the page. Go to Products → Product categories.
  2. Edit a category. Click the edit (pencil) button on the category you want, or click Add Category to make a new one.
  3. Find the printer setting. Scroll to the Kitchen Printer Settings section in the category window.
  4. Choose a printer. Open the Kitchen Printer selector and pick the station that should receive these orders. Choose No Kitchen Printer if you don't want this category to print.
  5. Save. Click Create Category or Update Category.

The chosen printer now shows in the Kitchen Printer column of the category list.

Tip: Products inherit the printer from their category automatically, so you set it once instead of on every item.

Good to know: The Kitchen Printer Settings section only appears when the restaurant features are switched on for your business. If a category uses a kitchen display screen, the list shows a KDS badge instead of a printer name.
