Creating a product category

Categories keep your menu tidy by grouping related products together, for example Burgers, Drinks or Desserts. Here's how to add one.

Steps

1. Open the page. Go to Products → Product categories.
2. Start a new category. Click Add Category in the top right.
3. Name it. In the Category Name field, type a clear name such as American Style.
4. Add a description (optional). Use Description for a short note about what belongs here.
5. Set status. Keep Active on to use the category. Inactive categories are hidden from POS and public kiosk.
6. Choose visibility if needed. If the whole category should control channels, open Category visibility override and click Enable override. Then choose POS, Kiosk, and Online with Dine-in or Takeaway under Category channel availability.
7. Save. Click Create Category.

Your new category appears in the Product Category List. Click its name any time to view and reorder the products inside it.

Tip: Keep names short and recognisable; they appear as buttons on the POS where space is limited.

Good to know: If you use a category override, it applies to every product in the category until you choose Clear override.
